Tullibigeal is situated between Lake Cargelligo and Condobolin, and is warmly referred to by the locals as “Tulli”. Nestled in picturesque hills and fertile farmlands, the small town began as a Cobb and Co stagecoach change station.
With strong Australian Rules football connections, pride of place in the town is the footy field. Tullibigeal also boasts excellent tennis and netball courts, cricket fields, a swimming pool and a children’s playground.
The Crafty Corner in RSL Memorial House (opposite the park) offers home made cakes, jams, pickles and local handicrafts every Friday afternoon. Visitors passing through on other days can phone ahead to organise a visit.
At the Cockies Shed Lavender Farm grower Kerry AmoAmo will be happy to explain how lavender is grown, distilled and used. Lavender products made from Cockies Shed lavender are available for sampling and purchase. Visits are by appointment only.
Frampton Flats Feedlot was established in 1989 as a 900 head cattle feedlot. Today it has grown to be a 2800 head licensed feedlot, whose main market avenues are Woolworths and Cargill Foods Australia. The cattle are sourced locally as well as from regional marketing centres and are fed for specified times to suit each buyer. Appointments are necessary to view the operation.
Drop in to the Mayfield Hotel for a cool drink and a bite to eat. While you’re there take a look at the Tullibigeal “Football Hall of Fame” which consists of football team photos going back many years.
The small shop front of the “Tulli Co-op” is deceiving and you’ll be surprised at the size and stock this community run store has inside. The Co-op is open on weekdays, and visitors are welcome to browse through the many sections of the store.
Take a wander through some impressive town and farm gardens while you visit Tullibigeal. The best time for garden viewing is autumn or spring. Phone to arrange your visit.
