Rathmines is located on the western shores of Lake Macquarie, near the towns of Toronto and Morisset. Once home to a World War Two Catalina Seaplane Royal Australian Air Force base, Rathmines Park has an interpretative walk that guides visitors through the history of the Rathmines Base.
One of the largest coastal saltwater lakes in the Southern Hemisphere, Lake Macquarie is surrounded by cosy holiday towns like Belmont, Wangi Wangi, Cooranbong, Swansea and Toronto.
