Casterton Racing Club is running its 148th registered Cup meeting on Sunday 31st May 2009. Casterton Racing Club is steeped in history with races recorded by Adam Lindsay Gordon and the only race course in Australia to have live privet hedges on it's own steeple track.
Casterton Cup Day is a day of high fashion and fantastic racing. Fashions on the Field are once again sponsored by Sofitel Luxury Hotels and local businesses with prizes totalling over $5,000-. Classic Racewear for Mens & Ladies & for the younger set 6 - 10 & 11 - 16 boys & girls.
Once again the marquee packages will be available and boast the best viewing spot in all Australia - high on the hill with an unobstructed view of the whole course! Catering & alcohol packages are available.
With entertainment for the kids & a DJ, it's a great day out for the whole family.
One lucky racegoer has the chance to win 2 nights accommodation at the beautiful Sofitel Hotel in Collins Street, Melbourne. Entry forms will be in the racebooks and drawn after the Cup race.
Casterton hosts four TAB race meetings per year with an average of 8 races per meeting and an average of 10 starters per race. Trainers & horses come from far & wide to race at Casterton, the best wet weather track in Victoria. Set in a natural amphitheatre setting, with the Glenelg River running along the eastern side of the course, fantastic viewing from the Public Dining Room & Bar - nothing else compares!
